Agroturismo como alternativa para la valorización de la agrobiodiversidad en la Reserva de Biosfera “Sierra del Rosario”, Cuba
Main Article Content
Abstract
In the context of the sustainable use of the components of biodiversity, the study of the value of the agricultural biodiversity in protected areas that allow the conservation and sustainable use of the agricultural resources found there is included. Among the objectives of the project: UNEP / GEF “The conservation of agricultural biodiversity in biosphere reserves in Cuba: connecting the managed and natural landscapes (COBARB), it is to contribute to the improvement of the standard of living of the human communities linked to these sites, increasing the flow of benefits in two biosphere reserves in Cuba. Based on the results implemented in this project, a group of actions have been carried out so that the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity can be integrated into an integrated offer of tourist services, cultural traditions, fresh and processed products of agrobiodiversity, based on in the traditional knowledge and know-how of the communities. A strategy was developed to promote agrotourism in three farms of the Sierra del Rosario biosphere reserve, which was validated in the municipal government of Candelaria. The diagnosis made it possible to make a first proposal for an agrotourism package based on the strengths identified in each of them, as well as to identify and recommend some opportunities for strengthening tourism in the study region and the implementation of good practices for sustainability.
