Characterization of the African giant snail (Lissachatina fulica Bowdich).

Abstract
This work was carried out with the purpose of knowing the development phases, favorite habitat and behavior of the African Giant Snail and this way to avoid its propagation, damages to the humans and agricultural cultivations, since at the moment one of the 100 species harmful more invasive of the world. The work was carried out in areas near to the community of the National Center for the Production of Laboratory Animals (CENPALAB), to the South of the Union in Santiago from the Vegas, Havana, Cuba. Phases of the snail in dependence of its size and the number of turns of the shell were described. It was verifying the resistance from this mollusk to the climatic variations, its favorite habitat in the plants, is in the high level of the shaft and the agricultural cultivations that are affected were the fruit-bearing ones, tubers, ornamental plants and grains.
