Environment-population-urban agriculture: dominant, complementary or armonic relationship?

Abstract
The destruction of the forests, the biodiversity loss and soil degradation, and the contamination of the waters constitute some manifestations of the unequal relationship that it exists between the man and the nature, hurried by the emergence and development of the civilization by what the productive capacity of the planet leaves every more threatened day. The urban poverty and the alimentary insecurity have become important consequences of the quick urban growth. In the decade of the 90 it was designed in Cuba the Movement of Urban Agriculture as an initiative to solve the problems emergent product of the collapse of the socialist field and the worsening of the North American blockade. In addition, it was begun to promote agriculture able to favour the recovery of the environment and of making a better use of the natural resources. Starting from bibliographical revisions, direct observations, interview and carried out surveys one could know that the municipality of the capital of Regla is very vulnerable to the environmental contamination and that its natural resources are very deteriorated and depressed. An Urban Agriculture based on an ecological handling of the productive systems is of vital importance in this town. It’s necessary an invigoration of the routines of forest, fruit-bearing, ornamental, and flowers; always considering to the man like the indispensable factor in the relationship harmonic Environment/Urban agriculture. The objective of this contribution is to meditate as the movement of urban agriculture that have been developing in Cuba it can contribute to the improvement of the environment, in the example of the Municipality Regla.
