Spatial analysis of the productive units in the protected area of the managed resources Ciénaga de Zapata

Abstract
In Cuba, numerous investigations and projects of family farming and biodiversity have been made in protected areas. The project “Introduction of new agricultural methods for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, including plant and animal genetic resources in productive landscapes in selected areas of Cuba” (COBIMAS) is currently being implemented. One of the needs of the project is the implementation
of geographic information systems in order to fulfill its objectives. For this reason, this research´s objective is the spatial analysis of the sustainable management of plant and animal genetic resources for food and agriculture. It was selected 19 productive units located in the APRM "Ciénaga de Zapata" and indicators of social, productive and environmental sustainability, as well as natural factors. As result it has diverse maps of plant and animal genetic resources managed in the productive units and the analysis of the strengths and limitations that the producers present. There are marked differences in the management of these resources between units located in Soplillar and Cayo Ramona-La Ceiba.
