Changes in brown soil properties resulting from anthropogenic influence
Main Article Content
Abstract
From some time ago are studying the changes of the soils properties for the anthropic impacts. The results obtained in Red Ferralitic Lixiviated soils are not the same when compared to Brown soils. The aim of this paper was to study these changes in Brown soils. Researches were carried out in Campo Florido region. Ten soil profiles were taken according to their use: Conserved (P1), Cultivated (P2) and Degraded (P3), which were evaluated and characterized. As it has been proven, in RFL soils continuous cultivation changes soil properties, diminishes carbon reserves, increases the dispersion factor, volume density and the formation of a plow pan. However, in Brown soils degradation occurs in a different manner, determined by the distribution of clay particles in the profile, the kind of clayish mineral, the relief and the condition of tropical subhumid climate. Among the main results can be highlighted the very good granular-nutty structure of the Reference and Cultivated soils under natural conditions, a clayish texture more reflected in the B horizon. In the cultivated soil, the soil structure is change to a blocky structure and the losses of organic matter is higher, because the mineralization of the organic matter and losses by the slope due to erosion. This process is intensified during the rainy season due to the kind of the mineral clay and its higher content in the upper horizon, the erosion process is accelerated, causing a low soil relative development. As a consequence, soil degradation is faster in Brown soils than in RFL.
